Programme goals and principles

Having an EAPworks Employee Assistance Programme in your workplace will make a significant difference in a number of ways.
Firstly, it acknowledges the importance of your people. It demonstrates practically that you care for both your managers and your employees.
Programme goals
- To provide all employees with an early-intervention mechanism for assistance when personal or work-related issues arise, in a way that is confidential, impartial, independent and in accordance with our code of ethics.
- To provide a professional referral service for managers and team leaders to utilise when they identify the need to assist an employee with personal issues or impaired work performance.
- To provide a range of personal and professional development services that benefit both the individual and the organisation, thus promoting a positive work community.
Principles of the Employee Assistance Programme
Where it is established that there are personal issues impacting on an individual's work performance and referral to independent professional support is considered appropriate, the following principles will apply:
- Employees will be treated with sensitivity, respect and dignity at all times.
- The confidentiality of the employee is safeguarded at all times.
- Every best endeavour will be made by EAPworks to provide the right support and resources to any individual seeking assistance. It remains the individual's primary responsibility to own their issues and effect the changes that are needed or desired.
- The service is available to all employees regardless of their role or any other factors that may be perceived as discriminatory.
- The service can often be a useful means of providing professional support to assist an employee to regain optimal work performance. The service is however not designed to form part of the disciplinary process and cannot be used as such. Rather the service is one of the early interventions that can help address some of the issues that lead to poor work performance. The service is voluntary.
